About Us

The Kenyan Community in Ontario (KCO) is an Ontario-based not-for-profit, non-political and non-denominational organization run by volunteers, committed to promoting the settlement and development of its members as well as preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Kenyan community in Canada

It is a multi-religious, multi-ethnic and multi-cultural organization that represents almost all Kenyan ethnic groups have made Ontario their home. KCO strive to make the transition to living in Canada for new members as informed and hassle-free as possible by using the knowledge gained through similar experience.

This community-based organization is therefore the rallying point of Kenyans in this part of the world who desire to contribute in one way or the other to the development of Ontario and that of Kenya.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to involve members of the Kenyan Community and friends of Kenya in productive community economic development initiatives and to foster a sense of Kenyan national unity, development consciousness and equity among all. We seek to promote the spirit of patriotism among Kenyans in Ontario and to encourage their active participation in the affairs of Canada and their country Kenya.

KCO shall work in collaboration with other communities, organizations, and agencies in Ontario and elsewhere in achieving its objectives.

Working in partnership with Midyanta Association of Somali Services Agencies, KCO is able to offer the following Programs and Services at 1992 Yonge Street.
    • Immigrant settlement and adaptation program (ISAP) including immigration cases.
    • Job search
    • Resume review and employment help
    • Internships opportunities
    • Free legal counseling services
    • Bridging child welfare protection
    • Family violence and crisis prevention
    • Drug abuse prevention program
    • Family mental health support services
    • Housing and homeless support
    • Social assistance – Welfare support services
    • Access and equity education
    • Youth and seniors support services
    • Community/tenant development services
    • Language interpretation and translation
    • Counseling information and referrals
    • Community development services and programs
